There are many beautiful places and natural wonders in the Asheville area. Many of western North Carolina's greatest natural treasures are found in DuPont State Forest. Spanning over 10,000 acres, the area officially became a state forest around the turn of the century.
There is no question people choose to visit and live in Asheville because of the natural wonders and beauty all around the city. From mile-high mountains, to winding rivers, to old-growth forests, western North Carolina offers numerous opportunities to get away and relax.
